MEP visits Dog Trust

Alyn Smith MEP paid a visit to the Dogs Trust rehoming centre in Glasgow to discuss animal welfare in the EU. Alyn is a lead negotiator on the EU Animal Health Strategy and is conducting a series of meetings with stakeholders across Scotland.

Alyn Smith MEP said:

“This charity looks after thousands of stray and abandoned dogs in Scotland and their work is invaluable.

“The Dogs Trust promotes responsible dog ownership, which help save dogs from being abandoned and perhaps destroyed. When dogs are abandoned the charity provides essential shelter and care for them until they find a new home.

"Animal welfare has improved in the last decade, but there is a lot more that needs to be done. I will be working with the Dogs Trust and anyone else who is interested and cares about improving animal welfare in Europe.”
