MEP gives wings to SWAN networking

MEP to host LGBT professionals event

SNP MEP Alyn Smith is playing host to LGBT professionals in the European Parliament Information Office in Edinburgh. The Scottish Workplace Networking for LGBT People - SWAN - provides an opportunity for everyone in the LGBT community to meet and get to know people from outside of their social and professional circles.

Alyn Smith said:

“Scotland has had lots to celebrate in the recent weeks, such as the passing of the Scottish Government’s Marriage and Civil Partnership Bill, but there is still a lot of work to do and events like LGBT History month provide a great opportunity for the whole of the LGBT community to further promote inclusion.

“We have to celebrate progress; changes, no matter how small, really make a real difference for LGBT people.”

Robert Cole, co-founder of SWAN Networking said:

“Our organisation provides business networking opportunities for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people in Scotland.  We’ve grown to more than 400 members who can attend bi-monthly events in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

“Our events have forged valuable personal and business contacts for our members.  We’re always keen to hear from potential new members and host organisations.”
