The VW crisis continues to grow and grow. I have been contacted by so many people across Scotland that I want to be able to specifically keep folk up to date with the action, the inquiry and, in due course, the penalties and compensation.
In truth, we are very much at the early stage of this and I suspect we will be dealing with the implications and court cases for years to come.
At the end of the day, this comes down to a simple truth: California caught VW lying and are now at the lead of demanding a fix. We, in Scotland and Europe, must do the same. If the emissions standards aren’t clean enough for Sacramento then why should they be clean enough for Scotland?
We demand better, and in this case I truly mean we, since my Seat is one of the cars to be recalled.
The UK government has emphasised that they will ensure nobody pays any extra tax due to these revelations and, indeed, this should go without saying. Of course, consumers who were lied to shouldn’t be forced to pick up the tab!
I will, of course, keep you up to date as this develops, so please sign up here if you are interested.
