Internship Opportunity
One of the first things Alyn did on his election in 2004 was to create an internship programme in memory of one of his predecessors, Allan Macartney.
The internship lasts three months and is based in the European Parliament in Brussels. It offers a chance to experience the day to day operation of the office, from experience in EU legislation, the work of the European Parliament and constituency work to drafting speeches and press releases. The basic working hours are Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, however a flexible attitude to working will be required as the internship is results driven.
Any successful intern should be ready to work hard in a demanding, though enjoyable, environment. The ideal candidate will be a recent university graduate however age is not an issue. Successful applicants will have proven research, IT and organisational skills. Knowledge of French would be helpful but it is not essential.
It is with regret that this internship is unpaid however every effort is made to ensure that interns are involved in relevant, challenging and important work- Alyn does not need bag carriers and he gets his own coffee! The successful applicant must be confident that they can financially support themselves for the duration of their stay.
Interviews will take place in Edinburgh. We are now accepting applications for our next intake in January 2011. If interested, please send a CV and covering letter to:
