MEP Welcomes Polish Community Website
Congratulating the Association Mr Smith said,
"I'm delighted that the Polish Association in Inverness are launching this site and wish them the very best of luck.
"The fact that there is a need for this facility demonstrates the increasing influence the community has in the Inverness area. I'm sure it will provide a great forum not only for Polish people but also for others hoping to engage with Scotland's newest residents."
"Poland's accession into the EU has proved to be a great success in areas like the Highlands where migrants make an immense contribution to the local economy and cultural diversity."
Mr Smith continued,
"The SNP is working on ways to engage Poles and other new migrants throughout Scotland in the political process. EU residents living in Scotland will be able to vote in next years Scottish Parliament and local council elections and I hope they will register to vote as soon as possible.
"I also hope they will look to the SNP as we prepare for government next year as the only party to recognise the positive impact the Polish community has on this country.
"I know my colleagues at both Scottish Parliament and local council level will be working hard to make sure the Polish voice is heard next May."
