04 June 2008
SNP MEP Alyn Smith has extended his congratulations to Morag Wells and Nadine Froughi, both in S3, of Lioncleit School from Uist in the Western Isles after their victory in the Speaking Competition Final which was held last Friday in Glasgow City Chambers.

The Speaking Competition is run by the Scottish European Educational Trust and is sponsored by the European Parliament. Part of the prize for the competition is a visit to Brussels.

Speaking from Brussels, Mr Smith said: "My congratulations go to Morag and Nadine for their performance in the competition. I am looking forward to seeing them in Brussels in October.

"I am particularly delighted to see that their topic for the competition was about their link with a school in Romania. This is an enterprise which is close to my heart and I am extremely pleased to see that young people such as Nadine and Morag are taking advantage of the opportunities that the European Union can provide."
