MEP joins blood drive

To be followed by a little murder mystery

Scottish National Party MEP Alyn Smith yesterday offered his assistance to the Scottish Blood Transfusion Service Donor Centre in Glasgow.

Alyn offered to help staff at the centre on the first day of a two week work experience tour of Scotland. Staff at the centre gave Alyn jobs including greeting and registering blood donors to handing out the tea and biscuits.

Commenting Alyn said

"I've had a great afternoon here, the staff have been fantastic, they are hard working and do a wonderful job. They made it all good fun and kept me away from the needles. Helping out with the blood drive in the summer was a good way to see how important it is that people continue to donate during the summer months, when many go on holiday.

"My tea making skills have seriously improved with today's work experience. They'll probably come in handy for my next stint in Glasgow backstage on the Rebus set on Wednesday."

Alyn Smith MEP will be back in Glasgow on Wednesday (20th) to work with SMG backstage on the set of Rebus, at the old police station in Govan.
