Scots Youngsters Encouraged To Put Pen To Paper On Consumer Debt

The question to be answered by all entrants is: "Who is responsible for the UK consumer debt mountain?"

This competition is open to any student aged between 14 and 19 and enables them to test their writing skills by writing an article of no more than 1,500 words in abusiness magazine style.

Robert Cole, Deputy Business Editor for The Times will be judging the competition and will be awarding marks for good reporting style, demonstrating research, evaluation, analysis and written argument skills.

Speaking on the issue Mr Smith said,

"I am happy to voice my support for the competition as it not only helps to improve writing standards in general, it also encourages students to think about what is a very important issue.

"It's not only great for young people with an interest in business, it's appropriate for any young person to enter.

"IF have put forward a thought provoking question that will doubtless prompt many different responses - and the best will receive £250 as well as the title "Young Business Writer of the Year 2007.
